THE ENVIRONMENT
Garrotxa

The Garrotxa is the green region of our territory and is distinguished by the Natural Park of the volcanic zone, with 30 craters and a large protected space. Beside Croscat volcanoes and Santa Margarita are the beech forest, known as the Fageda d'en Jorda. The best way to discover these landscapes is to follow one of the many routes that offer us learn about the richness of ecological and landscape the area. The Romanesque has its principal exponent in the Monastery of San Joan de les Fonts. The area of Garrotxa two sets medieval treasures of great architectural beauty. The first of these sets, the people of Besal˙, is a patchwork of medieval streets where we found several examples of coexistence between the Jewish and Catholic community. The second set is the medieval village of Santa Pau, its old quarter around the castle and the Plaza Mayor. We must also mention the area surrounding the towns of Les Preses and Vall d'en Bas, the latter consisting of seven cores that retain a rural feel and charm. A highlight Hostalets d'en Bas. We also discover an extremely mountainous with stunning ravines and gorges, the area between Oix and Castellfollit de la Roca, which is surprising for the disposal of the old town, atop a spectacular cliff of basalt.
